If you're new to my blog welcome! If you have not done so already, check out my previous blog posts on my journey to opening at Etsy Shop. I did not major in design nor am I good at drawing with a pencil, but I did love painting. Design has always been part of my daily job and my skills refined over time. I created flyers, powerpoint templates, logos, and websites. Over the years, my designs got better. I designed every aspect of my wedding: the invitation, the table numbers, table names, seating chart, and the take home party favors. It saved me a TON of money doing everything by myself, but I also had a ton of fun doing it. When I was pregnant with my first son I bought a cricut machine. Wow, did it blow my mind. I experimented with different cutting images and vinyl projects. Here’s an example of a panda I created from scratch - cut and assembled myself for my baby shower. When I transitioned over to my second career in 2018 I started learning how to design using Adobe Illustrator and realized all I needed were shapes to design. It blew my mind and expedited my design work. The Twin Dumplings was an inspiration from my twin boys. While I was in the midst of planning a “100 day old” party for the twins, I found a lack of party decor and designs for twins. Twins must really not be all that popular. I ended up not throwing a party for the twins because I was discouraged by the lack of party ideas. However, this discouragement turned into an inspiration for me to launch my Etsy shop. It’s something I've wanted to do for years but never sat down to actually do it. I actually opened my shop back in 2018, added one listing, and never touched it again. Here I am in 2023 with about 30 listings and 16 sales in about one month. Wow. Never did I think this could actually become a reality. So as I continue to embark on this journey with “Etsy” and expand the idea of “twins.” My co-lead (dearsaladdays) kept saying “can you make egg tarts.” I said - “sure!” I started working on the egg tarts. When drawing, I can see the characters I want to design in my mind, but it takes me several rounds of drafts before I get to the final design. Drafts of the Twin Tarts over Several Iterations... After the many rounds of designs and back and forth with my co-lead (Dearsaladdays) and my sister, we finally landed on a final design - which I now present to you all - the Twin (egg) Tarts. TWIN TARTS - PARTY INVITATIONS
